RAIDAR Health Startup Licenses the Renal Angina Index
Acute kidney injury (AKI) affects up to one-third of critically ill children in pediatric ICUs, leading to severe complications. To accelerate early detection and intervention, Cincinnati Children’s has licensed its Renal Angina Index (RAI) to RAIDAR Health LLC, integrating it into a scalable clinical decision support platform for widespread adoption.
The RAI calculates a risk score by combining clinical risk factors with kidney injury indicators, predicting severe AKI within 72 hours of admission. This enables earlier therapeutic decisions that may reduce ICU length of stay and improve survival rates.
Developed by Stuart Goldstein, MD, FAAP, FNKF, director of the Center for Acute Care Nephrology at Cincinnati Children’s, the RAI provides a standardized, predictive decision-making tool to guide proactive interventions, such as early continuous renal replacement therapy.
By licensing the RAI to RAIDAR Health, the technology has been integrated into a clinical decision support platform, allowing for rapid adoption across multiple pediatric institutions. “This agreement enables faster dissemination of AKI risk stratification, supporting multi-center platform trials to improve outcomes for critically ill children,” Goldstein said. This collaboration underscores Cincinnati Children’s commitment to translating research into scalable, real-world solutions that enhance pediatric critical care.
