Making an Appointment with Urology
Our urologists provide outstanding care throughout the Cincinnati region. We can help you find the location that is convenient for you.
To schedule an appointment, please contact us.
Some insurance companies require a referral to a specialist from your primary care physician. Please talk to your child’s pediatrician about a referral before calling for an appointment.
Our expert teams also offer online second opinions for U.S. patients who live outside of the Greater Cincinnati region. During this secure, convenient appointment, a urologist will review your child’s case and answer specific questions about a diagnosis or treatment options.
Online second opinions are typically not covered by insurance and cost $850. Our case manager will work with you to determine if one of these appointments is right for you.
Preparing for Your Visit
To make the most of your appointment, we may need to complete some tests, such as urinalysis or renal ultrasound, before your child’s appointment. Your child’s pediatrician can order these tests for you and ensure that our office gets the test results. We will also work with your child’s pediatrician to get your child’s medical records.
We also ask that you bring information to the appointment such as:
- Insurance information
- Any questions you have
- Any recent test results
On the Day of Your Visit with Urology
Before Your Appointment
We ask that you arrive in our office 15 minutes before your appointment. Please be sure to leave plenty of time for parking and walking to our office. When you arrive, you will need to fill out a form to help us register your child in our system.
Please contact us if you are running late for your appointment.
At Your Appointment
At the start of your appointment, a nurse will take your child’s weight, height and blood pressure. We may also need your child to provide a urine sample for testing before we take you to an exam room.
In an exam room, an experienced nurse will ask you about your child’s symptoms, their conditions and how it is affecting them. Next, one of our urology providers will examine your child. The non-invasive, gentle exam will focus on your child’s abdomen and pelvis area.
Once the exam is complete, our expert provider will answer any questions you have and talk to you about treatment options. Each child receives unique treatment depending on their health, their condition and their needs. Together, we can choose the treatment that makes sense for your family.
After Your Visit with Urology
You will receive a document called an “After Visit Summary” before you leave the office. It includes important information about the next steps in your child’s care, including any upcoming appointments, tests or surgeries they have. If you need a follow-up appointment, you may be eligible for an eVisit. Ask your provider for more details.
If you have any questions between appointments, we encourage you to call our office. We are your partner in improving your child’s urological health and are happy to help you with any problems that arise.
