Premier Training in Pediatric Surgery

The Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery provides educational and training opportunities for medical students, residents in general surgery and residents (fellows) in pediatric surgery.  In addition, the division has established several training programs in which individuals participate in the broad clinical and academic experiences offered by specialized centers under the division.  These subspecialty fellowships include Colorectal, ECMO, Fetal, International, Trauma and Vascular Anomalies.

The Division’s two-year residency (fellowship) in pediatric surgery is one of the premier training programs in North America.  One new resident is chosen each year through the National Resident Matching Program. To date, more than 40 pediatric surgery residents have been trained in the division.
