All forms of mechanical ventilatory support, including non-invasive positive pressure and high-frequency ventilation, are available. Peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), plasma exchange and ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) are also employed as support modalities in the PICU.
The PICU physician staff currently consists of 16 pediatric intensivists who are either board eligible or board certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
