Technical Support for Morphology-Based Techniques

The Integrated Pathology Research Facility at Cincinnati Children’s provides a variety of services to meet the needs of many researchers. Our team provides technical support for routine morphology-based techniques including:

  • Tissue Processing and Embedding
  • Microtomy (paraffin and frozen)
  • Routine and Special Histochemical Staining
  • Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence
  • In Situ Hybridization
  • Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Tissue Microarray (TMA) Preparation
  • Digital Slide Scanning and Image Support
  • Pathologist Interpretation

Facility staff members have a variety of backgrounds in both clinical and research science, and can provide helpful information to assist researchers in getting the best possible data from their tissues. The facility also has pathologists on hand to help guide a project, interpret results, and collaborate on publications when necessary. Imaging assistance is also available for presentation or publication needs.

We recommend that investigators meet with facility personnel before starting a project to determine how best to proceed with harvesting and fixation of tissues, and how collaboration with the Integrated Pathology Research Facility can lead to the best possible outcome.
