Learn about the alumni of the Child Welfare Research Lab, including their current ventures.

Jackie Barnes, MA.
Jackie Barnes left the lab in 2019 to launch Jackie Barnes Designs, after 20 years of working with us on developing, delivering and supervising research protocols across numerous studies funded through local, private, state and federal funding. Jackie has conducted research with parents, children and families, involving self- and parent-report measures, observations and other data collection methods. She has trained and supervised numerous research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in delivering research protocols, data collection, data management and data entry.

Vikash Patel
Vikash Patel was a clinical research coordinator II at Cincinnati Children’s until 2020, when he left to pursue a career in nursing. He completed his bachelor of arts in psychology with a minor in neuroscience at Miami University in Ohio and had worked in the Child Welfare Research Lab since 2016. He is interested in research concentrating on development into adulthood, specifically how early life stressors affects mental and emotional development through adolescence into adulthood as well as approaches to improve their healthcare.

Alex Duncan
Alex Duncan was a clinical research coordinator II at Cincinnati Children’s. She completed her bachelor of science in health and wellness with a minor in psychology at Mount St. Joseph University in Ohio. She is interested in research concentrating on health outcome disparities in underserved populations, in particular foster children and young mothers and their children, as well as approaches to improve their healthcare. She is currently receiving her master of public health at Tufts University.

Nathan Lutz
Nathan Lutz was a clinical research coordinator II at Cincinnati Children’s. He completed his bachelor of science in psychology with a neuroscience minor at Miami University in Ohio. He is currently a clinical psychology PhD student at Loyola University.

Imani Crosby
Imani Crosby was a McNair Scholar and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Intern at Cincinnati Children’s. She completed her bachelor of arts at the University of Cincinnati and left the lab in 2019 to complete her PsyD at Georgia Southern University.
