As one of the country’s largest pediatric pathology fellowship programs, we are looking for highly motivated candidates who meet our selection criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

All candidates must be able to confirm the following:

  • Are dedicated to a career in pediatric pathology
  • Are self-motivated with a high level of integrity and responsiveness to mentorship
  • Hold an MD or DO degree
  • Are board-eligible or board-certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath)
  • Are eligible for unrestricted Ohio state medical licensure

International candidates are welcome to apply. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All international applicants need must be ECFMG-certified.

Application Process

To be considered, please submit the following documents:

  • Cover letter
  • Personal statement 
  • Up-to-date CV (resume)
  • Clinical fellowship application form
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation, each sent directly by the author (at least one letter must be from your current program director or immediate supervisor)

A Note About Personal Statements

Your personal statement should: 

  • Convey your motivation for pursuing pediatric pathology.
  • Highlight relevant experiences in pathology or related fields.
  • Demonstrate your readiness for the fellowship.
  • Briefly outline your career goals.
  • Share the skills or qualities that make you an excellent fit for the program.
  • Describe how you plan to contribute to the field during and after your training. 

Please keep your statement concise, authentic and reflective of your enthusiasm for pediatric pathology.

Evaluation Process

All completed applications are reviewed by our fellowship committee. Once your application has been discussed, our program coordinator will contact you to arrange an interview as the next step in the evaluation process.

The interview typically spans one full day. You will meet with various faculty, as well as our pathologist assistants, autopsy technologist and current fellows. Each will last approximately 30 minutes.

If an offer is made, our program coordinator will connect you with our Graduate Medical Education Office to make final arrangements and provide resources to help you find housing and make your transition to Cincinnati as smooth as possible.
