Surgical Treatments for Solid Tumors
Whether your child was born with cancer or develops it later on, you’ll find the care and support your entire family needs at Cincinnati Children’s.
Our cancer surgeons care for infants, children and teens, as well as young adults up to age 39. We have experience removing tumors from all parts of the body, including vital organs.
Some of the many types of cancer we treat include:
- Bone, joint and muscle cancers, such as osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, synovial cell sarcoma and chondrosarcoma.
- Head and neck tumors, including thyroid cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
- Kidney tumors, such as Wilms tumor and renal cell carcinoma.
- Liver cancer, such as hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
- Metastatic cancer, or any type of cancer that has spread from its original location to other parts of the body.
- Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that grows in nerve cells. Although neuroblastoma can develop anywhere in the body, it usually grows on the adrenal glands (located on top of the kidneys).
Your child’s cancer surgeon will work closely with any other specialists involved in their care. We’ll make sure all of your child’s treatments, including surgery, are well coordinated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy as needed.
