Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is a leader in medical research as a top-5 institution in NIH funding, receiving more than $169 million in 2023 alone. The division of Pulmonary Medicine is dedicated to research to ensure progress in the treatment and management of lung diseases in children. Each of our specialty programs and centers are involved in projects to continue this progress. The division of Pulmonary Medicine received more than $17 million in research funding in 2023, contributing to the publication of more than 150 research publications. A Team Approach to Care

Collaboration is power. Our specialty programs act as hubs where multiple divisions collaborate on patient cases to ensure the most comprehensive care plan is designed. Our partners in care include Infectious Diseases, Pediatric Surgery, Otolaryngology (ENT), Pathology and Rehabilitation Medicine. Our division partners with other top-ranked programs, such Neonatology (#1) and Gastroenterology (#2).

The division of Pulmonary Medicine is also a component of the Cincinnati Children’s Aerodigestive and Esophageal Center, an integrated program that provides care to children with complex airway, pulmonary, sleep and upper digestive tract disorders.
