Innovative Therapy for Kidney Tumors
The Kidney Tumor Program at Cincinnati Children’s offers a full range of therapies, including some innovative approaches not available at other children’s hospitals.
The Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute offers traditional therapies as well as unique investigational therapies, some of which are designed and targeted for high-risk renal tumors such as pediatric renal cell carcinoma. The many treatment options we offer include:
- Chemotherapy
- Conventional surgery
- Nephron-sparing surgery, which involves removing only part of the kidney
- Targeted radiation therapy
- Radiofrequency ablation, which kills cancer cells by heating and destroying them
- Novel biologic therapies
- New drug therapies offered through clinical trials
