Pectus Excavatum

Commonly known as “funnel chest,” is a depression caused when the sternum is abnormally pushed inward.

  • Vacuum Bell Treatment is a non-invasive therapy for pectus excavatum.
  • Read about traditional open surgery (Ravitch repair) and minimally invasive techniques (Nuss procedure) in the pectus excavatum health topic.
  • An erector spinae plane block is a special nerve block that can be used in surgery for pectus excavatum. It is used to prevent or treat surgical pain and may lower the need for pain medications, which can mean fewer pain medication related side effects.

Pectus Carinatum

Commonly known as "pigeon chest," is a common condition in which the breastbone and ribs are pushed outward.

Informational Sessions

You have important questions that need answers. You're not alone. We offer informational sessions to patients (and their families) who have been identified as surgical candidates and who are scheduled for surgery in the coming weeks. These education classes provide patients and their parents with all of the tools  needed prior to surgery so that they know what to expect after being discharged from the hospital.
