Your first visit is a great chance for our specialists to get to know your family. At this visit, we’ll review the medical history and begin to develop a treatment plan. While here, we want you to ask questions and share information to help us best meet your needs.

How to Prepare for Your First Visit to the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute
Our care team would like to review your medical history before your first visit. When you make an appointment, you’ll receive a set of forms asking questions about medical history. Please complete these forms and bring them to your first visit.
These forms and the records your referring physician sends to our team will help us make the most of our time together. In addition, please include details about any medications, vitamins, and herbal and nutritional supplements the patient may take.

Arriving at Your Appointment
Cincinnati Children’s Burnet Campus is located near downtown Cincinnati. Some Cancer and Blood Disease patients can also be seen at other locations. Your care team will help arrange where your appointment should occur, and, our visiting section can help guide you during your visit.
We recommend you arrive about 30 minutes early. This allows you time to park, find our office, and register for your first visit. If you’ll be more than 30 minutes late, please contact us to let us know.
At Your Appointment
You’ll meet with a variety of medical professionals who will be a part of the care team. The team will review the patient’s medical history, ask questions, and order testing if needed. They will keep you informed along the way and encourage you to ask questions. The goal is to develop a personalized care plan to address the patient’s medical condition and well-being.
At the end of the visit, your care team will provide you with external resources about and support for your condition.
After Your First Visit to the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute
The care team will provide a clear treatment plan for each patient depending on their condition. We will explain the plan to each patient during your initial visits. We’ll coordinate all follow-up appointments with the medical urgency and your family’s needs in mind.
