Analyzing Equipment

We use the ABI PRISM® 3730xl DNA Analyzer, a capillary electrophoresis system developed specifically for production-scale DNA analysis. Sequencing accuracy is > 98.5% to 550 base pairs. Read length can reach over 800 bp with good starting materials. The current capacity is around 1080 sequence reads, or over 10,000 microsatellite based genotypes per day, 7 days a week.

NGS Sequencing

Our facility employs several Illumina™ Sequencers to scale to your Next Generation Sequencing project needs. We have access to the NovaSeq6000, NextSeq500, MiSeq and iSeq sequencers as well as a Oxford NANOPORE MiniION MK1C . These sequencers have outputs ranging from a few million to several billion reads per run, with read lengths ranging from 50bp to 300bp for the Illumina sequencers. Much longer reads are possible with the MiniION MK1C.

DNA Quality Control

• Agilent 5300 Fragment Analyzer System: The 5300 Fragment Analyzer system performs DNA QC and RNA QC for a broad range of samples including, gDNA, small RNA, cfDNA, large DNA fragments, and total RNA. 
• Qubit: For Fluorometric Quantification of DNA, RNA or oligos.

Workstations

The facility is equipped with two TECAN robotic laboratory workstations to automate sequencing reaction setup, dye terminator removal, plasmid minipreps and purifications.
