Our Vision
Healthy Children in Healthy Communities: changing the outcome through rigorous research
Our Mission
The mission of the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (DBE) is to strengthen pediatric research and care by providing leadership in biostatistics, epidemiology and clinical data management.
We pursue this mission by conducting innovative research led by our faculty, by engaging in multidisciplinary research projects with basic research and clinical divisions of Cincinnati Children's, by providing education, training and consultation to students and professionals at Cincinnati Children's, University of Cincinnati, VA and in the community, and by working with public health agencies and health care organizations to promote communication and synergy between academic research and public health practice.
About our Recent Research
The Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (DBE) partners with nearly all of the clinical and translational research programs of Cincinnati Children’s. Our expertise is the design and statistical analysis of studies that advance understanding of child health. That expertise helps ensure that the research done at Cincinnati Children’s is world class.
DBE is currently engaged in collaborative, independent and industry grants, totaling more than $3.7 million in direct support to DBE in the 2015 fiscal year. During that time, DBE faculty and staff worked in collaboration with 40 other Cincinnati Children’s divisions and authored or coauthored nearly 140 articles. Articles authored by DBE faculty are published in high impact journals such as Stroke, American Journal of Cardiology, Pediatrics, JAMA Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Biometrics, Statistics in Medicine, JAMA Pediatrics, and Neurology.
