The Division of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy has an extensive orientation and competency program. All new therapists are paired with clinical trainers who will help them master all skills necessary to complete their assigned competencies.
Cincinnati Children's has one of the largest pediatric training programs within a single institution in the country. Our Division of OT/PT provides clinical educational opportunities to students from many universities. Each year we help train students to be better prepared for a career in pediatric therapy. Many of these students have such a positive experience while here at Cincinnati Children's that they apply for permanent positions with us.

Our Clinical Advancement Program provides therapists with an opportunity to be recognized for their advanced clinical skills, increase their income, and become more involved in leadership roles within the organization.

This unique program provides the opportunity for clinical therapists who demonstrate leadership, advanced clinical knowledge and skills to grow professionally throughout their careers. Cincinnati Children's believes that recognizing, rewarding and retaining experienced therapists in positions of direct patient care will improve the quality of patient care.

The Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation is the largest pediatric research program in the Midwest and employs more than 2,000 people. Nationally Cincinnati Children's is among the top three children's hospitals receiving funding from the National Institutes of Health.

The Division of OT/PT research program is led by an experienced therapist with extensive research knowledge. Our therapists direct research projects in a wide variety of clinical areas. These researchers are helping to shape the lives of our patients and the future of occupational therapy and physical therapy practice.

Our goal is to lead improvements in child health by contributing to the body of knowledge regarding the effectiveness of OT and PT interventions.

Cincinnati Children's Division of OT/PT takes an innovative approach to integrating evidence into clinical practice. We have dedicated and experienced staff who coordinate our EBP program. All clinical staff have an opportunity to participate in the EBP initiative. Our therapists are actively involved in identifying best practices and using evidence to guide their practice. The Division of OT/PT is committed to improving care by developing and publishing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
