What To Expect
International Visitors are those who come to our center from outside the United States.
Upon acceptance into the Visitor’s Program, visitors are provided with a detailed itinerary of what to expect for the duration of their stay. We will help you every step of the way, from helping you familiarize yourself with the hospital to finding accommodations. We are excited to have you with us and want to ensure you are comfortable and able to get the most out of your time here.
While in the program, visitors can expect to:
- Observe surgeries from a classroom and / or operating room setting
- Under escort by an attending, shadow in-patient rounds
- Attend informational lectures at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, as well as the University of Cincinnati
- Observe out-patient clinic area
- Participate in various courses throughout the division
Please know observers are not permitted any hands-on patient care and receive no educational credit or certificate.
Note: There is a weekly fee to observe in the Division of Pediatric General & Thoracic Surgery, as well as a one-time administrative fee assessed by Immigration Services. You can pay the fee to the Division of Pediatric Surgery upon arrival, and the Immigration Services fee once the Division has accepted your request.
