Like most U.S. hospitals, Cincinnati Children's is affected by the IV fluid shortage caused by damage to Baxter International's North Carolina production facility during Hurricane Helene. Our teams will continue to watch this situation and will provide any updates as needed.
The “Parental Perceptions of Obesity” project co-led by Christopher Bolling, MD and Matthew Richey, PhD, sought to assess parental perceptions of obesity in their children while visiting their primary care office. Funded by The Health Foundation of Cincinnati (currently known as Interact for Health), the project expected that parents in Greater Cincinnati were inaccurate at identifying obesity in the own children. In a confidential de-identified survey taken in a pediatric office, parents were asked to describe their child’s weight status in verbal and pictorial ways. The study, presented at the American Heart Association meetings in 2007 demonstrated that parents were indeed inaccurate at identifying overweight and obesity in their child.
