Theresa Alenghat, VMD, PhD, an assistant professor in the Division of Immunobiology at Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati (UC), has been selected by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for a 2019 Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease Award. She was chosen as one of just 11 awardees from an applicant pool of 150.
The award, which consists of $500,000 over a period of five years, provides opportunities for accomplished researchers to bring multidisciplinary approaches to the study of human infectious diseases. The Fund’s selection of Alenghat was based on the scientific excellence and innovation of her proposal, the strength of the scholarly environment at UC and Cincinnati Children’s, and her accomplishments as an independent researcher.
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is a private independent non-profit foundation located in the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.
