Simmons, Lorts take on new roles
Jeff Simmons, MD, MSc, was recently appointed associate chief quality officer (CQO) for Safety, and Angie Lorts, MD, was named associate chief quality officer for Clinical Outcomes. Both will serve as faculty leaders in the Anderson Center.
Says Steve Davis, MD, interim CEO, “These roles reflect the importance of system improvement for safety and clinical outcomes to achieve our strategic goal of exceptional, safe and affordable care for every child, every family, every day.”
Simmons initially joined Cincinnati Children’s as a pediatric resident in 2000, becoming a chief resident in 2003-04. He is an associate professor of Pediatrics and has been a key leader in the development of the Division of Hospital Medicine in his capacity as its clinical director and director for quality. For the past three years, he has been our Safety Officer.
Lorts joined Cincinnati Children’s in 2006 as a faculty member in the Heart Institute and an associate professor of Pediatrics. She is the medical director of Ventricular Assist Device and Artificial Heart Services. She has also served as director of the Solid Organ Transplant Quality Improvement and Safety team and is a leader of a multi-hospital learning network.
