Jeffrey Anderson, MD, named new leader of Physician-Hospital Organization
Jeffrey Anderson, MD, takes over this month as vice president and medical director of Tri-State Child Health Services – the Physician-Hospital Organization (PHO) through which Cincinnati Children’s partners with local primary care providers and specialists. In his new role, Anderson will also lead the integration of the Community Practice Services and Physician Services teams at Cincinnati Children’s.
Anderson picks up the role from Srikant Iyer, MD, who recently accepted the position of chief of Emergency Services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to impact the health of children not just within our own walls, but throughout our region,” said Anderson. “In partnering with our community practices, we work together to improve care, service delivery and outcomes. Our PHO is a critical organization in accomplishing these goals. This collaborative effort is co-managed by Cincinnati Children’s and our subspecialists and leaders from community practices, each a critical partner in the network.”
Anderson’s role is to strengthen existing relationships, create systems that provide value to our families and community partners, and enable even greater impact for patients.
More than 30 community practices, 170 community physicians, and all Cincinnati Children’s physicians are members of the PHO, which delivers several advantages including:
- Extending Cincinnati Children’s expertise beyond the hospital. We equip providers to handle more cases at the primary care level, avoiding unnecessary hospital referrals. This clinical integration makes care more accessible, convenient and affordable for families.
- Improving quality of care. PHO members have collaborated on projects that have improved care for chronic conditions, such as asthma and constipation. Work is now underway on chronic headaches.
- Enhancing management of large patient populations. By coordinating efficiently, innovations are shared and felt across the network, not just with individual providers. Families enjoy improvements such as simplified referral processes.
“Jeff brings with him all the necessary qualities to excel in this position,” said interim CEO Steve Davis, MD. “Through his work in supply chain and quality improvement, he’s demonstrated strong leadership and the ability to build partnerships, drive innovation and efficiency, and deliver advancements that serve patients and families.”
Kim Kaas will partner with Anderson as administrative lead for the PHO as well as our Community Practice Services and Physician Services teams. Pam Poland will continue as director of PHO Operations.
