Magnet site visit scheduled for late April
Cincinnati Children’s has been granted a site visit with the American Nursing Credentialing Center. The visit, which is slated for April 23-25, is part of our redesignation effort for Magnet. The medical center was first awarded Magnet status in 2009 and again in 2013. It is the nation’s most coveted nursing award.
Our application was submitted in October 2017. It scored so high that we were granted a site visit following the initial document review — an accomplishment only achieved by 10 percent of organizations that apply.
During the visit, three appraisers will tour inpatient and outpatient units, as well as neighborhood locations, to verify, clarify and amplify what was submitted.
The Magnet page on CenterLink is a great resource for site visit preparation. It contains the electronic Magnet document with search capability, a directors’ weekly calendar highlighting a different item of focus for each week and tools that enable and empower the units to speak to professional practice.
The entire re-designation process has required an incredible amount of teamwork under the leadership of Mary Sitterding, PhD, RN. Hundreds of others have also played a role, including physicians, allied health and our dedicated staff of nurses. Special thanks to all who have brought us to this point.
