Access to physician parking will change in June
Editor’s note: This version of the article contains important updates that were not available when the April issue of Staff Bulletin went to print.
Beginning June 11, physician parking on P4 of the Visitor Garage at Burnet Campus will no longer be accessible from Erkenbrecher Avenue. At that time, physicians who use that space will enter the Visitor Garage at the Burnet Avenue circle entrance and navigate to P4 from there.
This change is necessary due to construction of the new Critical Care Building. Work scheduled for this year includes excavation and major utility relocation, drilled piers, foundations, the steel framework and concrete structure.
Says Bob Baer, manager, Parking and Transportation, “We anticipate that the Erkenbrecher entrance to the physician parking area will be closed until the fall of 2021. In the meantime, it is very important that doctors continue to park where they are assigned so we can maintain the spots in the general Visitor Garage for families.”
When exiting the garage through the main gate, physicians can show their badge to the parking booth attendant to waive any fees, or they may use their badge to leave through the valet exit located at the southeast corner of the plaza level.
West Drive to North Garage closing
Access to the North Garage will change for three months, starting July 1. The West Drive will close from Erkenbrecher to the southwest corner of the North Garage. All cars will enter and exit through a temporary road.
The West Drive is scheduled to reopen on October 1.
Says Baer, “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience as we expand our capacity for providing exceptional care to children and families.”
