Join the ECHO autism research project
We are inviting physicians and nurse practitioners in primary care practices who treat a high proportion of underserved patients (based on racial/ethnic minority status, socioeconomic status, or rural residence) to participate in a telemedicine research study. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of the Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) model in providing primary care clinicians with training to recognize and treat Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Clinicians will participate in two online clinics per month lasting two hours each, over a six-month period (Dec 2017-May 2018). The clinics include case presentation and a didactic teaching session on a topic related to ASD and co-occurring medical or behavioral conditions. Since this is a research study to determine the effectiveness of the ECHO model, you and your practice will be asked to complete surveys and share chart review data.
The principal investigator of this study is Heather Johnson, PsyD, psychologist, Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP). The co-investigator is Julia Anixt, MD, developmental pediatrician; director, The Kelly O’Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, DDBP.
Benefits of participation:
- Earn up to 4.0 CMEs monthly, for six months, absolutely FREE.
- Gain real-time access to an interdisciplinary team of autism and behavioral experts for advice on specific patients.
- Increase knowledge about evidence-based practices for screening, diagnosis and treatment of autism.
- Increase your network of like-minded providers.
