Ray Bignall honored by Ohio AAP
The Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (Ohio AAP), representing more than 2,900 members in the state of Ohio, presented Ray Bignall II, MD, FAAP, with the William H. Cotton Pediatrician Advocate Award during the Ohio AAP annual meeting in October. This award honors a pediatrician who is a strong pediatric legislative advocate.
Bignall is a research fellow in the Center for Adherence and Self-Management, in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, at Cincinnati Children’s.
He also created the “#100Words Project,” which collects and shares stories from pediatric patients, parents and child health professionals.
“Dr. Bignall is the most energetic and enthusiastic advocate I know. He works at the hospital, community, state and national level to insure children receive the best quality of care,” said Mike Gittelman, MD, FAAP, president-elect of the Ohio AAP and a fellow physician at Cincinnati Children’s. “His community work with fathers in the inner city, and his latest work documenting 100 patient stories, are only a few examples of his thoughtful advocacy projects. I am so excited Ray is being recognized for his efforts by the Ohio AAP!”
“Ray’s enthusiasm for making the world a better place is infectious. He inspires me to do my job better—to be a better physician, a better advocate, a better citizen,” said Andrew Beck, MD, MPH, FAAP, Cincinnati Children’s.
