Every day you change lives like his

Staff Bulletin.Born eight weeks early due to exposure to opiates in the womb, Gideon fought for his life from his very first breath. His symptoms were so severe that his adoptive parents, Sara and Andy, couldn’t even touch him for days.

“His doctors in Texas told us they didn’t think he’d ever see, speak or walk,” Sara explains. “But we knew he was a fighter, and we knew that once we brought him home, we’d have Cincinnati Children’s in our corner.”

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy and other health issues, Gideon sees several divisions across our organization. Together, our experts work to help him reach his incredible potential.

Today, because of the commitment of his medical team, Gideon is beating the predictions of his first doctors. He walks, attends school, sings along to Maroon 5 and loves superheroes.

So many of us know a patient like Gideon and his family. Patients like him inspire us and make our work meaningful. Because of patients like him, we are driven to discover new and better treatments and cures.

But, to do that, we need your support.

And, if you give before December 31, your gift will be doubled, thanks to our friends at the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament, who will generously match all gifts up to a total of $150,000.*

As you know, one of our core beliefs at Cincinnati Children’s is that small acts have tremendous impact. You live that belief every day, as you serve and care for families like Gideon’s. Thank you.

* Matching funds from the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament will support the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at the medical center.
