Cincinnati Children’s again named one of nation’s Best Employers for New Grads by Forbes

Cincinnati Children’s has again been named one of America’s Best Employers for New Grads by Forbes, ranking among the Top 10 health systems in the nation.

Of the 400 companies across all industries recognized by Forbes for 2024, Cincinnati Children’s ranked No. 46 among the Best Employers for New Grads. This is the fifth year Cincinnati Children’s has made the list since Forbes began the recognition in 2018.

“Young professionals are looking for opportunities to learn and grow, and Cincinnati Children’s prioritizes nurturing an environment that is conducive to learning and professional advancement,” said Peter Adebi, senior vice president and chief human resources and diversity officer. “For healthcare professionals looking to reach their full potential, there is no better destination than Cincinnati Children’s.

“We are the No. 1 pediatric health system in the nation, and our commitment to being the best at getting better includes hiring recent grads who work in collaboration with our veteran medical providers, scientists and support staff to ensure that our patients and their families receive world-class care that results in the best outcomes and experience,” Adebi added. “Cincinnati Children’s has more than 19,000 employees, and we position our young professionals for long-term success by investing in mentorship opportunities, continuing education and training programs so new grads receive the guidance and support needed to thrive.”

Nurses at Cincinnati Children’s who are recent graduates cited several reasons they were drawn to the health system, with the top three being: The No. 1 ranking among the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, career growth and training opportunities, and the positive work environment.

Professional development for nurses is critical to achieving Cincinnati Children’s vision of being the leader in improving child health, Adebi noted. The health system’s Nursing Advancement Program provides opportunities for clinical nurses to be formally recognized, advance in their careers and assume leadership roles that directly impact patient care and the organization.

Support for new grads at Cincinnati Children’s also includes employee resource groups, such as the Young Professionals ERG for those 21 to 40 years old. The Young Professionals ERG hosts career development and networking events, and it facilitates community service and fundraising opportunities.

Employee resource groups are at the heart of making Cincinnati Children's a more inclusive place. The health system’s other ERGs are: African American Professionals, Asian Cultural and Professional Group, Cincinnati Children’s Administrative Professionals, Disabled & Abled, LGBTQIA Resource Group (EQUAL), Hispanic/Latino Resource Group (Juntos), Veterans and Military Family Advocacy Network (VAMFAN) and Women in Search of Excellence (WISE).

Forbes compiled the ranking based on a survey of young professionals at companies with at least 1,000 employees. The recent graduates indicated the likelihood they would recommend their employer to others, and they evaluated their company in areas such as reputation, compensation and benefits, advancement opportunities, working conditions, flexibility and inclusion. Those surveyed also were asked to evaluate other employers in their industry.
