Tuesday, October 10, 2023

Cincinnati Children’s has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review for being a national leader in providing exceptional orthopedic care for children, teens and young adults with musculoskeletal conditions or injuries – as well as for research focused on neurological and neuromuscular disorders.

The Division of Orthopaedics at Cincinnati Children’s was cited by Becker’s for utilizing the most innovative technologies available, offering access to various clinical trials and treating a high volume of patients.

Tending to more than 43,000 patient visits annually, the health system’s orthopedic specialists provide care for a broad spectrum of conditions. Families from around the world travel to Cincinnati Children’s for orthopedic surgery and care, including access to several specialty programs and sports medicine.

For example, surgeons with the Orthopaedic Sports Center at Cincinnati Children’s have received referrals and treated patients from all over the world for complex joint conditions, revision of failed surgery and cartilage restoration procedures. And FAST fracture clinics offer same-day services for treatment of fractures and acute orthopedic injuries.

“Our division is fortunate to have some of the world’s top experts in almost every orthopedic subspecialty,” said James McCarthy, MD, director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Cincinnati Children’s. “This includes advanced care of children with scoliosis and spine deformities as well as innovative research and treatment focused on restoring health after sports injury and trauma, complex hip reconstruction, cerebral palsy and neuromuscular conditions, and brachial plexus and upper extremity disorders.

“We work closely with our quality improvement team and incorporate breakthrough research,” McCarthy added. “Most importantly, we work with our families and patients to deliver the best outcomes, together.”

Becker’s listed 100 hospitals or health systems with outstanding orthopedic programs, noting that some have earned recognition from prestigious ranking organizations such as U.S. News & World Report. Cincinnati Children’s is ranked among the Top 3 in the nation for pediatric orthopedic care by U.S. News.
