Cincinnati Children’s and First Ladies for Health will team up again for this year’s Family Health Day, which will be held at six area churches and two other locations Sunday, Oct. 9.
Family Health Day will include health screenings and flu shots for kids and adults, plus games, activities, raffle prizes, gift cards and food.
Cincinnati Children’s providers will collaborate with other organizations to offer vision and hearing screenings, speech and pathology screenings and asthma screenings. Experts will also be available to discuss sickle cell disease, dental care, heart health and breastfeeding. Flu vaccinations will be available at no charge for anyone 6 months or older at four of the locations.
The free event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. It will be held rain or shine.
“We are proud that for nine years Cincinnati Children’s has been working closely with the First Ladies and churches to improve health and wellness for children and communities,” said Monica Mitchell, a pediatric psychologist who is the medical center’s senior director of Community Relations. “Our providers and volunteers are always excited to offer flu shots, screenings and other services that meet the health needs of those who attend the event. We hope that everyone participates in Health Day and enjoys the activities being provided for children and families.”
In addition to Cincinnati Children’s and the faith-based First Ladies for Health, primary sponsors are Interact for Health, Kroger and Cincinnati State. Co-sponsors include over two dozen other organizations.
Health screenings will be offered at the following locations and times:
Flu vaccinations will be provided by Cincinnati Children’s at Corinthian Baptist Church, Mother of Christ Catholic Church, Rockdale Academy and Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses.
