Bariatric surgery can have many benefits for severely obese teens, however, one of the two main types of procedures appears to lead to higher risk of long-term nutritional deficiencies.
The study, led by Stavra Xanthakos, MD, Medical Director, Surgical Weight Loss Program for Teens at Cincinnati Children’s appears online at Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The findings were based on data gathered through the long-running national Teen-LABS study.
