Maureen Walk, MSN, APRN-CNP

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner, Anderson Primary Care
What I love most about pediatrics is being able to work with kids and their families. Kids are so curious and inquisitive and show nothing but love. I love that children can look at the world in different ways than adults and that they give us a new perspective.

About

Biography

I was born in Anderson, and it’s great to be working in the community where I grew up. As a nurse practitioner, my work involves primary care, well checks and acute illnesses. I also manage chronic illnesses like depression, anxiety, attention-deficit disorder (ADD, with symptoms of inattention, distractibility and poor working memory) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, with additional symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity).

I love interacting with children and watching them explore, developing their own personalities and confidence in the process! I’m excited and willing to help and care for the individual and family. I encourage parents to come in with their questions and concerns, and we can work through them together.

I pursued my career because I enjoy working with others to create positive outcomes and piecing together information to solve complex problems. With that goal, I was honored to be elected to represent the Community Health Services Network on Cincinnati Children’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Council, which ensures all of our APPs operate at the highest level. There's no better feeling than when the body is physically and mentally healthy. It brings me happiness to help patients feel their best.

My care philosophy focuses on the understanding that humans are multi-faceted. There may be multiple ways of treating an illness or concern or working with each unique patient and family. My approach involves working with patients to set realistic expectations and treating issues to achieve our common goals.

In my free time, I like to keep moving and enjoy most outdoor activities. I love traveling around the world—but nothing beats Cincinnati!

Maureen Rooney has been one of the greatest additions to the Anderson Primary Care office. With providers retiring and new healthcare providers coming in and out of the office over the years, Maureen has been a breath of fresh air. She is thorough, listens, takes concerns seriously and provides thoughtful recommendations and care. My children all love seeing her and she makes them feel comfortable, at ease, safe, and heard. We appreciate the level of care she provides and all that she does for our family!
