About

Biography

I'm triple board-trained and certified in pediatrics, child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry, and I feel privileged to integrate these specialties and experiences into my career. I practice as a pediatrician caring for hospitalized children and as a child and adolescent psychiatrist specialized in the mental health care of those who are hospitalized for a medical condition. I also serve as the co-director of the behavioral and mental health rotation for our pediatrics resident physicians.

My love of working with kids sparked my interest in this career path. From volunteering at local schools and hospitals to leading youth leadership development workshops to global medical volunteer work abroad, I discovered the impact that I could have on a child’s life and that a child’s smile could brighten and rejuvenate me after any long day. I have also discovered a passion for medical education, particularly mental health education for pediatricians. In this vein, I also enjoy collaborating with others to develop local and national curricula and educational materials for pediatricians and psychiatrists.

I aim to treat the whole child, as the mind and body are so intimately entwined, and mental health is critical to well-being and recovery from illness. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to care for each child and family and integrate my knowledge and experiences in both pediatrics and psychiatry into everyday practice.

My passion for advocating for children’s health has led to several national elected leadership roles, which I am honored to hold. These have included national positions with the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Early Career Physicians, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), the Alliance for Learning and Innovation (AALI), and the AACAP Triple Board and Post-Pediatric Portal Committee. I also sought additional training in systems-based healthcare as an American Psychiatric Association Public Psychiatry Fellow and completed a graduate certificate in public health.

My academic interests include quality improvement at the interface of physical and mental health, interdisciplinary communication, improving mental health care for hospitalized patients, and teaching and mentoring in medical education. This has led to several speaking engagements and teaching opportunities from the local to national level. I am also honored to have been elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and to have received the Chairman’s Award from the Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, several research awards and recognitions, and the Hidden Gem Award at Cincinnati Children’s.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, hiking, being outdoors and traveling.
