Oliver Rhine is senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Cincinnati Children’s, a nonprofit, comprehensive pediatric health system. As a leader in research, education, patient care, advocacy and innovation, Cincinnati Children’s is ranked #1 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 list of best children’s hospitals in the nation and is the #2 recipient of pediatric research grants from the National Institutes of Health. In partnership with the CEO, board and executive team, Rhine is responsible for driving the health system’s growth, innovation and transformation initiatives.
A member of the team at Cincinnati Children’s since 2012, Rhine has held a number of leadership roles in business development, operations and strategy. Most recently, he served as vice president of strategic planning, where he led Cincinnati Children’s $600 million Critical Care Building project. The project opened ahead of schedule and on budget in November 2021, meeting or exceeding all safety, diversity and inclusion goals. The building stands as the health system’s largest expansion to date and the largest private development in city history.
Rhine also co-led the development and activation of Cincinnati Children’s vision for growth and has played pivotal roles in establishing key partnerships with affiliate hospitals to bolster capabilities and help keep patients and families close to home. His prior professional experience includes roles with Precision Therapeutics, Covidien PLC (Medtronic), and Merck & Co.
Rhine received his bachelor’s degree with honors at Purdue University and his MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has served on various boards related to child health advocacy and is currently a board member for the Live Well Collaborative, a nonprofit research and development group founded by Procter & Gamble and the University of Cincinnati, and he is a co-founder of Queen City Sunshine LLC, a seed investor in local startups.
