About

Biography

As a genetic counselor, I specialize in medical genetics, cytogenetic testing, molecular genetic testing and clinical laboratory medicine. My care approach is based on respect for patient freedom and helping patients and families make informed decisions about their medical care. I believe in providing accurate and complete information that can help each family make a decision that is right for them.

In college, I double majored in molecular genetics and psychology—the two areas that interested me the most. I wanted a career that could make a positive impact on people's lives while allowing me to pursue both of my interests. I was lucky to learn about genetic counseling, and I knew it was the career for me.

I am privileged to assist healthcare providers and families find the correct genetic diagnosis. I am passionate about helping everyone involved get the most useful type of genetic testing done. I then discuss the results with them, speaking as clearly as possible to help them understand the situation and make the best decisions.

It was my honor to be a member of the winning team of the international CLARITY Undiagnosed Challenge, awarded by Boston Children's Hospital (2016) and the Business Process Improvement IMPACT Award from Nationwide Children's Hospital (2016).

When I am not working, I enjoy playing with my dogs, doing home improvement projects, sewing and crafting.
