As a pediatric anesthesiologist, I treat children who need surgery, so they don’t feel any pain. I serve as the division director of Anesthesia at Cincinnati Children’s. Before that, I was the director of the Pre-Anesthesia Consultation Clinic for 11 years.
My interest in anesthesiology developed in medical school. I took an elective rotation in anesthesiology and found it fascinating. It wasn't until my anesthesiology training that I discovered how much I enjoy working with children.
When my patients are in the operating room and away from their parents, I treat them as if they are my adopted children.
What an amazing opportunity I have to care for children in need. When I work with kids, I can be silly and call it being professional.
It was an honor to be nominated for the 2018 Aubrey Rose Foundation Doctor of the Year award. This award recognizes physicians whose dedication, talents and skills have improved the lives of countless childhood patients.
In my free time, I spend time with my husband and three children — identical twin boys and a girl. I studied classical voice when I was younger and enjoy singing. I also like to exercise.
