I’m a speech-language pathologist (SLP) specializing in evaluating and treating early childhood and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I work with patients ranging from toddlers through adults in therapeutic programs, in co-treatment with occupational therapists (OT) and in SLP-only treatment for outpatient appointments. I served as the SLP student coordinator before the Aaron W. Perlman Center became part of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. I have continued to be the student coordinator within the center and liaison to the Speech Pathology Department’s student coordinator. I work at the Burnet Campus, College Hill and Norwood locations.
When I was younger, the SLP at my elementary school sparked my interest in the field. Then, when I was placed for a clinical practicum at United Cerebral Palsy's Services Center's Children's Division (now known as The Perlman Center), my SLP supervisor inspired me to work with the populations served within our specialty center.
I believe in treating and working with patients of all ages and their caregivers as a team while building communication skills and developing and maintaining dignity, as everyone deserves to share their thoughts and have their needs met. In my years of working in this career, I've learned that caregiver involvement and training of skills to carry over outside of the therapy setting are essential to the continued use and development of all means of communication, play and social skills, as well as interest in literacy and learning.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time outside in the warm weather, as I love nature (animals, insects and plants). A fun fact about me is that I can produce a pretty good peacock call, and the peacock is The Perlman Center's mascot.
