My clinical specialty is endocrinology. I'm drawn to the breadth of endocrinopathies and treat, conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, disorders of puberty, and sex development and hormone complications in cancer survivors due to chemotherapy.
I find biochemistry fascinating, and I'm attracted to how intimately endocrinologists work with their patients and families. Often, the first presentation of an endocrinopathy can be traumatic for a family. I want families to know that my intention and goal are to meet them where they are. Families are part of the care team. Together, we make medical decisions in their child's best interest, whether they are facing a new, scary diagnosis or if they've been coming for routine doctor appointments.
As a passionate advocate and educator, I look forward to providing support for managing chronic illnesses and being a lifelong partner in my patient's care. In addition, I look forward to coupling my commitment to patient and community-level advocacy with my passion for providing equitable, evidence-based care for pediatric endocrinopathies.
With my research, I hope to bring a unique lens to endocrinology by focusing on health disparities and shedding light on the experiences of vulnerable and marginalized populations. Specifically, I want to understand better how disenfranchised communities access care for endocrinopathies and what barriers they face. I'm interested in understanding what delays in diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of endocrinopathies exist and how to overcome those barriers. I am also interested in learning more about growth, puberty, transgender care and reproductive endocrinology.
I'm a proud member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with loved ones; exploring new restaurants; going to museums, art and comedy shows; and playing board games! I also love listening to podcasts and always look for new ones!
