CHECK Foster Care Clinic
Comprehensive Health Evaluations
Children in foster care must receive health evaluations when placed in child welfare protective custody. We provide detailed placement screening exams and ongoing medical evaluations to meet these requirements for children and youth in foster care, kinship care, group homes and independent living.
Our team also completes specialized exams for children in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
Focused on the Whole Child
Children in foster care often have complex needs. We look at every part of a child’s health, including medical, dental, behavioral and mental health, as well as development.
By bringing services together, we reduce barriers to care and support long-term well-being. Our goal is simple: help every child feel safe, supported and as healthy as possible.
Coordinated, Team-Based Support
We use a team-based care model. Medical providers, psychologists and other specialists work together to create one clear care plan.
Our team collaborates directly with Job and Family Services. They help identify which children need to be seen and reach out to caregivers to schedule appointments. This approach helps ensure no child falls through the cracks.
CHECK-IN Program for Caseworkers
The CHECK-IN program, co-located at Hamilton County Job and Family Services, provides medical consultation to caseworkers to support families involved in child welfare.
The CHECK-IN team assists caseworkers and families with health care needs and navigating health care systems.
Foster Care Research
The CHECK Center is supported by the CHECK Research Team through national grants, publications and presentations. This connection helps keep our care informed by the latest research and best practices.
