Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Sports Medicine Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is a one year program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We have one to two positions available per academic year.

Our Program

Our fellows receive a well-rounded experience as follows:

  • 5 months of primary care sports medicine to include both adult and pediatric experiences
  • 4 months of surgical rotations in sports medicine and related orthopedic specialties to include both adult and pediatric surgical sports medicine, upper extremity, lower extremity, and fracture care
  • 3 months of complementary sub-specialties such as cardiology, radiology, physical therapy, rheumatology, pain management, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, and adolescent medicine based upon the fellow's training and interest

Our fellows are also heavily involved in team coverage serving as associate team physicians for Division I athletics at Miami University. They also serve as team physicians for one or more local high schools, cover mass participation events such as the Flying Pig Marathon, and provide local club and event coverage for youth soccer tournaments, youth baseball, and gymnastics. They provide training room and student health coverage at various levels in addition to event coverage.

Finally, our fellows are encouraged to participate in academic endeavors such as the writing of case reports, book chapters, and attendance and presentation at local and national meetings. They are encouraged and required to complete a unique individual research project with the full support of the faculty and staff. Our fellows are uniquely prepared to pursue academic practice to thrive in a variety of settings upon completion.
