Engage in Renal Disease Research and Training
Join a national leader in nephrology and hypertension. U.S. News & World Report ranked the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Cincinnati Children’s as a top 3 nephrology program in the nation for 2024-25. As one of only a few NIH-funded training programs based at a children’s hospital, we’re even better.
Under the direction of Dr. Elif Erkan, we offer a thorough curriculum that combines a very busy clinical service with opportunities for research and specialization. The clinical facilities are outstanding, and we have a proud history of cutting-edge treatment and research, including renal transplantation, since 1965. The clinical research we conduct is extremely broad: it extends from translational efforts focusing on biomarkers of renal disease to patient disease states such as hypertension and chronic renal insufficiency, as well as cutting-edge quality improvement and outcomes research. Our basic science endeavors focus on genetic renal diseases, glomerular diseases, renal development, and acute kidney injury. Graduates of our program receive comprehensive training in patient care and research to equip them for a successful career as future leaders in pediatric nephrology.
